ASME SA 387 Grade 5 Class 1/2 Sheets and Plates are alloy steels primarily made up of Chromium (4-6%) and Molybdenum (0.45-0.65%), which boost their corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. These grades come in two classes: Class 1, known for its higher ductility, and Class 2, which offers enhanced tensile strength. The mechanical properties include a tensile strength range of 415-585 MPa for Class 1 and 515-690 MPa for Class 2, with yield strengths starting at 240 MPa and 275 MPa, respectively. This steel is not only excellent for welding but also shows great resistance to thermal fatigue and maintains dimensional stability even with temperature fluctuations.
